California declared a state of emergency over coronavirus fears, after a man who disembarked from a cruise ship in San Francisco died from the virus. He is believed to have contracted it while on board, and officials are now racing to contact the other 2,500 passengers. The boat is currently being held off the California coast. Los Angeles Times
Mike Bloomberg ended his campaign and endorsed Joe Biden. “I entered the race for president to defeat Donald Trump, and today I am leaving the race for the same reason,” said Bloomberg, arguing that Biden now has the best shot. The former New York City mayor entered late and shot up in polls after spending more than half a billion dollars, but had a poor showing in Tuesday’s primaries. POLITICO
Things got heated as Supreme Court justices debated a Louisiana law requiring doctors who perform abortions to hold admitting privileges at a hospital. SCOTUS struck down a similar rule in 2016, but this is its first major abortion case since two Trump-appointed justices joined the bench. Chuck Schumer said conservative judges would “pay the price” for their decisions at a protest outside the court, drawing a stern rebuke from Chief Justice John Roberts. The Wall Street Journal
