More states order lockdowns

Three new states — Maryland, Virginia, and Arizona — issued stay-at-home orders, as the White House’s coronavirus coordinator gave a new, grim statistic: Up to 200,000 Americans could die, even if we do things "almost perfectly.” TODAY

Governors from rural states pressed President Trump for tests and emergency medical supplies, saying that despite urgent shortages in big cities, the rest of the country needs help too. Military hospital ships with extra beds have been sent to New York City and Los Angeles. CBS News

The FDA authorized emergency use of two antimalaria drugs, chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine, as potential COVID-19 treatments — despite scant evidence that they work. Trump has touted them as potential game changers, prompting a spike in demand and concerns of potential abuse. The Washington Post
