Donald Trump is set to become the third president ever impeached. A majority of the House is expected to vote today in support of the two charges against him: abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Trump called the proceedings an “attempted coup” and said Democrats “are the ones subverting America’s democracy.” CNN Politics

After the vote, the GOP-controlled Senate takes the reins — and Trump is counting on that for vindication. Senate leaders are expected to set a trial date for early next year. Bloomberg

The FBI was publicly shamed (again) for how it opened the investigation into Trump’s 2016 campaign. In an unusual move, the secret court that approves requests for surveillance ordered the bureau to say how it will fix the “basic and fundamental errors” recently brought to light by the Justice Department’s inspector general. Fiat Chrysler and Peugeot have agreed on deal terms in a nearly $50 billion merger that would create the world’s fourth-biggest carmaker, surpassing General Motors. The Wall Street Journal
