New York now has more confirmed coronavirus cases than any country in the world, with infections expected to peak soon. New clusters around the U.S. are emerging: Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., in particular have seen an alarming rise in cases. Los Angeles Times

Almost 17 million Americans have filed for unemployment benefits since the outbreak began, fanning the debate around when to reopen the economy. Health officials warn it won’t be safe to do so until outbreaks are stamped out and widespread testing is available. The Wall Street Journal
