U.S. on cusp of vaccine approval as COVID-19 rages


Leading scientists recommended the FDA approve Pfizer’s COVID-19 shot, paving the way for emergency authorization as soon as today. Officials say the first doses will ship within 24 hours of approval. USA TODAY

Virginia, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania announced fresh restrictions. Axios

President-elect Biden picked Susan Rice to lead the Domestic Policy Council and nominated Denis McDonough as secretary of veterans affairs. Both choices were Obama-era public servants. The Washington Post

Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Michigan urged the Supreme Court to reject a lawsuit filed by Texas aimed at overturning Biden’s victories in those states.
