Fourteen Americans who were evacuated from a cruise ship in Japan tested positive for the new coronavirus and were allowed on chartered flights to the U.S., according to American officials. The infected passengers, who were already in transit from the ship to the airport when the results came in, were placed in a “specialized containment area” on the plane. The hundreds of Americans flown home from the cruise ship will all be quarantined for at least 14 days. The Wall Street Journal
Workplace drama at the DOJ: Over 1,100 former Department of Justice officials signed an open letter calling for Attorney General William Barr to resign after senior department officials intervened to reduce a sentencing recommendation for former Trump adviser Roger Stone. The signatories argue Barr’s actions flouted the principle of “equal justice under the law,” but acknowledge they have “little expectation” he will actually step down. Vox
The NBA All-Star weekend was filled with tributes to the late Kobe Bryant. “We’ll never see a basketball player quite like Kobe,” said Magic Johnson, who joined Jennifer Hudson, Common, and Chance the Rapper in remembering the legend. And after Team LeBron eked out a 157-155 win over Team Giannis, Kawhi Leonard was presented with the first Kobe Bryant All-Star Game MVP award. ESPN
