William Barr and House Democrats clashed at a hearing about the independence of the Justice Department: Lawmakers berated the attorney general for deploying federal agents to U.S. cities — which Barr defended as necessary to protect federal property — and questioned his involvement in the cases of President Trump’s allies. The Washington Post

Trump doubled down on his promotion of hydroxychloroquine, a drug not proven to treat COVID-19, by retweeting a series of posts. One of the messages contained a video that Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube considered misinformation and removed from their platforms. The Wall Street Journal

Legal protections for “dreamers” will be rolled back, a government official said, in a move that comes shortly after the Supreme Court ruled the White House’s plan to end DACA was unconstitutional. The administration said the decision left room for other ways to stop the program, though it expects to face challenges in court. Vox
